about

Akatonbo is a old Japanese childrens's song.

At the beginning, only piano plays the melody. Then, the band comes in. When i wrote this arrangement, i envisioned a red dragonfly is flying under a luminous orange sunset over a mountain in Africa. At the end, my friend Jason Tamba from Congo sings in Lingala (official language of the Congo).

lyrics

Red Dragonfly at sunset, orange in the afterglow
Could it be the last time I saw it I was a child on my sister's back?

In the hillside fields we gathered mulberries into a small basket
Was that a dream or real?

At fifteen my big sister traveled far away to get married
We haven't heard from her for a long time

A Red Dragonfly at sunset, orange in the afterglow
There on the bamboo fishing pole it rests as I remember
